About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager to join our team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a key member of our Catering Services team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our catering operations to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of catering staff to deliver exceptional service to our patients and visitors.
- Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of our patients, including those with special dietary requirements.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Manage budgets, order stock, and control inventory to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Liaise with dietitians and dietetic assistants to plan meals for patients on special diets.
- Work with chefs and cooks to plan menus and ensure that meals are prepared and served correctly.

Person Specification
Essential
- Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management Association Professional Qualification or equivalent level of experience.
- Level 2/3 Certificate in Food Safety in Catering.
- Advanced Food Hygiene Diploma to degree level equivalent.
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
- City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 (patients services Catering Manager).
Desirable
- Accredited to a relevant professional body such as British Institute of Cleaning Sciences (BICS).
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience working in Catering Management or a senior supervisory position.
- Line management including coaching and staff development and managing employee relations issues.
- Managing a busy catering environment. Experience of IT solutions for catering/food services.
- Experience of managing a service of similar size and scope.
- Proven experience of service improvements and financial control.
Desirable
- Knowledge of service related to Care Quality Commission (CQC) Standards.
- Previous NHS experience or other public sector organisation.

- Ability to present and convey information concisely and informatively.
