DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Financial Crimes Office for EMEA (FCOE) in London operates under the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD) based in New York. Our mission is to uphold our organization's integrity by ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal standards, safeguarding our reputation, and protecting our clients. We establish and maintain robust systems and controls to mitigate the risk of financial crime.
TEAM STRUCTURE
This role involves managing 2 direct reports within the Sanctions Advisory team.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
The primary responsibility is to lead the execution of MUFG Bank's financial crimes risk framework, policies, and standards by providing a supportive sanctions advisory hub for the EMEA region. This role ensures that guidance is clear, informative, and consistent across all sanctions inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee 2 direct reports and contribute to the overall management of the Sanctions Advisory team.
- Analyze case and query volumes, forecasting future trends based on historical data.
- Offer expert advice and support on sanctions matters to the Sanctions Advisory team.
- Draft, review, and approve Sanctions Policy documents for the EMEA region.
- Present essential Management Information and sanctions regulatory updates at monthly forums, including external panels.
- Deliver timely and consistent sanctions advice to key stakeholders regarding potential transactions.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments on proposed transactions.
- Evaluate sanctions clauses in contractual agreements and provide guidance.
- Review and validate sanction alerts identified during Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to perform Customer Due Diligence when sanctions issues arise.
- Assess and approve New Product Approvals from a sanctions perspective.
- Assist GFCD in gathering customer information related to sanctions data.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Demonstrated expertise in sanctions compliance.
- Proven experience in team management.
- In-depth knowledge of banking operations.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
