We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced KS1 Class Teacher to join our team at a special school in Bristol West. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a Year 2 class and providing maternity cover for a colleague until Christmas.

About the Role

This is a full-time position, with a focus on planning and marking lessons. The successful candidate will be supported by a couple of Teaching Assistants in the class and will be expected to be a natural leader in helping develop their skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with SEMH/ASD students and will be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour. They will also be positive, patient, and enthusiastic, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality education to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a Year 2 class and provide maternity cover for a colleague until Christmas
  • Plan and mark lessons, with adequate PPA time provided
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants to develop their skills and support the class
  • Be a natural leader and provide guidance and support to colleagues
  • Have experience of working with SEMH/ASD students and be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour
