Materials Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiochemistry Specialist to join our team at AWE. As a key member of our Materials & Analytical Science (MAS) Function, you will play a critical role in supporting multiple programmes, including Nuclear Forensics.
About the RoleThe Radiochemistry Group is responsible for maintaining and developing a diverse capability that utilises a range of isotope mass spectrometry techniques to characterise materials used within the nuclear industry. As a Radiochemistry Specialist, you will be responsible for performing analysis of both radioactive and conventional materials, developing and optimising existing analytical methods, participating in proficiency tests and exercises, and conducting discrete packages of research and development activities.

We are looking for a candidate with a recognised degree-level qualification in chemistry, physics, isotope geochemistry, materials science, environmental or forensic science, supplemented with relevant laboratory experience. You should also have experience with data analysis and interpretation, as well as a proven track record in analytical and technical report writing.
