Materials Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our Radiochemistry Group within the Materials & Analytical Science (MAS) Function at AWE. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing analysis of both radioactive and conventional materials, developing and optimising existing analytical methods, and participating in proficiency tests and exercises.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct analysis of radioactive and conventional materials using isotope mass spectrometry techniques
- Develop and optimise existing analytical methods to meet customer requirements
- Participate in proficiency tests and exercises to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Conduct discrete packages of research and development activities to support customer needs
- Recognised degree level, masters or post graduate science qualification in chemistry, physics, isotope geochemistry, materials science, environmental or forensic science
- Relevant laboratory experience and a proven track record with analytical and technical report writing
- Ability to represent AWE externally and travel abroad if required
- Passion for scientific discovery and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
