Technical Author - Stratospherec Limited

Stratospherec Limited is a leading digital media organization seeking a skilled Technical Author to enhance our documentation efforts. This position primarily involves working onsite and requires the ability to commute to our office.

The successful candidate will take the lead in generating comprehensive documentation for our software and hardware offerings, creating manuals, user guides, and detailed documentation for intricate digital media systems utilized by prominent global brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop user manuals, workflow guides, and other educational materials aimed at empowering our user base and reducing dependency on support services. You will create these resources through hands-on product exploration and collaboration with internal experts.
  • Engage with various departments to produce thorough documentation that enables both internal and external users to independently navigate and learn about our products.
  • Monitor the product lifecycle closely to ensure that all documentation remains current and relevant.
  • Provide guidance on knowledge management and assist in delivering clear and consistent information that aligns with our brand standards.
  • Act as the document administrator, maintaining the organization of our document repository and ensuring adherence to versioning and identification protocols.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and engagingly.
  • Experience in creating diverse content formats, including manuals and online videos, complemented by the use of visuals such as photographs, diagrams, and charts.
  • Creative and proactive mindset, capable of integrating quickly into the team and generating innovative ideas for enhancing product understanding.
  • Confidence in proposing improvements based on personal experience and user feedback, which is encouraged within our organization.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a small team.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations for training and support purposes.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in relevant industries.
  • Proficiency in simplifying complex texts for targeted audiences.
  • Excellent command of written English.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical authoring role.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and possibly PHP.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Broad knowledge of web technologies.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adept at grasping complex technical concepts and conveying them effectively through various mediums.
  • Ability to utilize innovative communication methods, including visuals, to enhance understanding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of contemporary software development practices.
  • Experience as a technical author in a company focused on sophisticated software solutions.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Exposure to version control systems like Git.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid passport for occasional international travel.
  • Possession of a driving license.
