Job Summary
Sinfonia Smith Square is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Commercial and Venue Operations. This is a key role that will be responsible for promoting and managing the venue, overseeing all operations within the building, and driving commercial revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy and Operations
- Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to drive revenue growth and maximize the use of the venue.
- Oversee the management of the venue calendar, ensuring that it is fully utilized and that all events are delivered successfully.
- Work closely with the Operations Coordinator to manage public concerts, including agreeing equipment hire, stage and seating layouts, and ensuring that all logistical requirements are met.
- Box Office and Ticketing
- Lead the Box Office Team to ensure that sales are maximized and that the organization's data is maintained and used efficiently and in full compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Catering and Hospitality
- Manage the catering contract, working with the appointed caterer to ensure that events and performances are well catered for, and all elements of the catering function are integrated into the visitor offer throughout the day.
- Oversee the general approach to catering, including opening hours, menu, and pricing, to maximize the financial contribution this area makes to the organization.
- Operations and Logistics
- Support the Venue Manager in managing the casual staff team of ushers, crew, event security, and cleaners, reviewing resource levels to ensure efficient and appropriate cover for business and service needs.
- Ensure that all relevant policies are up-to-date and regularly reviewed, making recommendations for changes and improvements as required.
- Leadership and Management
- Line manage all direct reports effectively, ensuring that all appraisals are undertaken in a timely manner and training needs are identified and met.
- Attend weekly SMT meetings and quarterly Trustee Board meetings, and be responsible for preparing board reports on Operations activity as required.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure that the organization's work reaches a wide and diverse audience, engaging with the on-sale process, website management, and social media campaigns.
