About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Specialist in Histopathology and Imaging to join our team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As a key member of our Parasites and Microbes Programme, you will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts and contributing to the advancement of human health and understanding of life on Earth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise in optimisation and experimental design on projects involving histopathology, including sectioning, mounting, and staining tissues for imaging and annotation.
  • Work closely with our core spatial transcriptomics facility to maximise insight from precious samples, investigating host-microbiome interactions using spatial transcriptomics and bulk RNAseq approaches.
  • Support the Imaging Lead with the management and training on advanced light microscopes and learn electron microscopy to provide resilience within the PaM Imaging Suite.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for facilitating cutting-edge scientific research. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage and prioritise a varied workload. Essential technical skills include a degree in biological sciences or equivalent work experience, in-depth knowledge and experience of practical laboratory work, cryosectioning experience, and other histology experience.

What We Offer

We offer a flexible-hybrid working pattern model, allowing for flexibility between remote and office working. However, this role requires the successful individual to be on campus a minimum of 3 days a week, with the flexibility to be on site whenever shipments are expected.
