Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, and contributing to the company's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review weekly cash flow forecasts to ensure accurate financial projections.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to produce weekly management accounts, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Process monthly journals, including pre-payments, accruals, depreciation, and other financial transactions.
  • Work closely with the financial controller to manage the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, providing actionable insights to the finance team and management.
  • Conduct variance analysis and produce financial KPI reports to inform business decisions.
  • Assist the financial controller and senior staff members with various tasks, including budget preparation, management account analysis, and liaison with external auditors.
Requirements
  • Relevant work experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting role.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and familiarity with finance regulations.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail to identify numerical errors.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software, such as Sage.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as AAT 4 or BSc/Ba in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
