About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Flood Risk Consultant to join our Development and Flood Risk team at ADVANCE TRS. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing site-specific and strategic flood risk advice to clients involved in development, land use planning, and flood risk management projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flood Risk Assessments: Direct, coordinate, and undertake Flood Risk Assessments (England) in accordance with NPPF and/or Flood Consequence Assessment (Wales) in accordance with TAN15.
  • Planning-Related Advice: Provide planning-related advice in relation to flood risk and drainage, for projects in England and Wales.
  • Flood Risk Mitigation: Develop solutions and assess options for flood risk mitigation.
  • Project Delivery: Support, manage, or direct the delivery of high-quality projects to programme and budget requirements.
  • Business Development: Prepare fee proposals and tenders, and undertake business development activities.
Requirements
  • Chartered Status: Chartered status (CIWEM or ICE) is essential to demonstrate experience of working in the UK development and flood risk sector.
  • Hydraulic Modelling: Knowledge of interpreting hydraulic model outputs, or using hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, and HEC-RAS.
  • UK Planning Process: Excellent knowledge and awareness of the UK planning process and policy.
  • Technical Report Writing: Effective technical report writing skills and verbal communication skills, to explain complex technical issues to non-specialists.
  • Project Management: Quality assurance and review expertise, project management, including contract and commercial awareness.
  • GIS and CAD: Familiarity with working in GIS and CAD formats.
  • Microsoft Office: Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word/Excel).
Desirable Skills
  • Outline Drainage Strategies: Experience preparing outline drainage strategies.
  • Hydrological Analysis: Experience in hydrological analysis using Flood Estimation Handbook methodologies.
