Join our vibrant Nature division as a Senior Ecology Manager and enjoy the advantages of our flexible hybrid working model. At AECOM, we lead the way in innovation, advocating for nature-centric solutions that range from extensive ecological assessments to the integration of nature into strategic decision-making and investment planning.

Our current initiatives involve assisting major Development Consent Order (DCO) applications for renewable energy projects and aiding local authorities in conducting Habitat Regulations Assessments for their planning frameworks. Our supportive and expanding team offers exceptional career development opportunities, and our broader network of technical specialists includes EIA experts, arborists, planners, engineers, and landscape architects, promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration across the organization.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of ecological contributions for both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Generate and critically assess a variety of ecological evaluations, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations;
  • Provide expert guidance to facilitate the delivery of effective and practical solutions;
  • Lead consultations and interactions with clients and key project stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and the community;
  • Contribute significantly to the ongoing enhancement of our technical capabilities and promote the integration of innovation and research;
  • Direct the preparation of proposals and bids for ecological services;
  • Guide and mentor both junior colleagues and peers.

If you are enthusiastic about innovation and transforming ambitious concepts into reality, AECOM is the place for you. Join our team, where we not only build infrastructure but also uplift communities and improve lives.

Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your needs, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering initiatives.

Are You Ready to Make a Difference?

We are looking for:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in ecology or a related field;
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution and progress towards or attainment of Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist status, along with protected species survey and/or mitigation licenses;
  • Strong understanding of applicable wildlife legislation and policy, along with excellent reporting skills;
  • Experience in leading and managing ecological surveys, licensing, and impact assessments relevant to your areas of expertise;
  • Proven experience in project management, budget oversight, and leading stakeholder discussions, including bidding and tendering;
  • Experience in reviewing and validating technical work while supporting team members.

We celebrate diversity and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities. If you possess some of the qualifications above or have transferable skills that could benefit us, we would be eager to hear from you.
