About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Media Officer to join our busy and award-winning national media team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering proactive and reactive press activity to raise the profile of Alzheimer's Society as the leading dementia charity in the UK.

This is a full-time, permanent role that offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects across fundraising, influencing, research, innovation, and brand. You will be working in a friendly and dynamic team environment, collaborating with colleagues to secure consistent and quality media coverage that instigates and sustains dialogue on dementia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement media strategies to achieve our communications goals
  • Secure high-quality media coverage through proactive and reactive press activity
  • Work closely with our storytellers, high-profile celebrity ambassadors, researchers, and thought leaders to devise and deliver media activity
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve our team goals and objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the media landscape and adapt our strategies accordingly

About You

  • You have a good working knowledge of the national UK media and have experience securing quality, strategic press coverage
  • You are creative, flexible, and able to spot a good media story or reactive press opportunity
  • You have excellent writing skills and are comfortable working with different subjects and projects
  • You are empathetic, professional, and have good attention to detail, able to juggle competing deadlines
  • You are committed to championing people affected by dementia

Person Specification

  • Excellent and professional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent IT skills and extensive experience/knowledge on using Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work collaboratively and prioritize your workload effectively
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail
  • Ability to advocate for Alzheimer's Society, demonstrating passion and resilience to make a difference
  • Self-starter and incredibly motivated
