About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Collections Data Specialist to join our team at The University of Manchester Library. As a key member of our Collection Strategies Directorate, you will play a critical role in helping us manage our vast and rich collections to deliver a world-class library and information service.

As a Collections Data Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to our collections, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, and developing strategies to optimize collection management. You will work closely with our collections team to ensure that our collections are aligned with the needs of our users and that we are making the most effective use of our resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret data related to collections, including usage statistics, collection development trends, and other relevant metrics.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize collection management, including collection assessment, weeding, and deselection.
  • Work closely with the collections team to ensure that collections are aligned with user needs and that we are making effective use of our resources.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track collection performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the library to ensure that our collections are integrated into the broader library strategy.
