Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ethical Review Committee Secretary to join the University of Oxford's Department of Biomedical Services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the University's research activities involving the use of animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Research Services on international collaboration projects that involve the use of animals at overseas establishments and organizations.
  • Collaborate with Named Persons, including Named Animal Care and Welfare Officers (NACWOs) and Named Veterinary Surgeons (NVSs), to ensure consistency in advice given to applicants and compliance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
  • Provide administrative support to the Ethical Review Committee, including preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, including the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including researchers, academics, and external organizations.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent/relevant experience in a biological research area.
  • Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
  • Experience of committee work, regulatory processes, or project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
