Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Services Technician to join the Department of Biomedical Services at the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care of animals in experimental research, providing a high level of animal welfare and supporting the scientific community across the University.

About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 36.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, with instruction from a senior technician. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing adequate levels of food and water for animals, and changing animal cages
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and senior staff
  • Showing good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Organising samples and recording results in a clear and organised fashion
  • Carrying out basic scientific procedures in a laboratory environment

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a laboratory animal environment
  • An IAT level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Good organisational and computing skills
  • A strong attention to detail
