Unit Overview: The Critical Care Unit at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston is a General Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit that provides care for patients across various specialties. We serve as a tertiary referral center for numerous medical fields, including thoracic, ENT, GI surgery, oncology, cardiac, and ECMO, addressing both emergencies and planned elective care.

Role Responsibilities: As a Band 6 Critical Care Practice Education Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Band 7 Practice Education team to establish and sustain an effective learning environment in clinical practice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating in-service training and ongoing professional education for nursing staff within the Critical Care Unit.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs to uphold care standards in accordance with Trust and Critical Care SOPs and policies.
  • Promoting evidence-based practice in Critical Care by disseminating best practices and addressing identified educational needs.
  • Providing support and development opportunities for nursing staff at all levels through education and training, while maintaining a staff development database.
  • Maintaining a significant clinical presence to assist staff in achieving their professional objectives.
  • Enhancing staff retention by offering clinical support, increasing job satisfaction, and facilitating personal development opportunities.
