The post holder will provide strategic leadership for the delivery of high-quality patient care within the Regional Stroke Unit. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse, the post holder will assume managerial responsibility, overseeing the supervision and deployment of staff. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for assessing care needs, evaluating care plans, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to stroke patients.

The post holder will be accountable for managing newly diagnosed stroke patients, ensuring compliance with national standards, and collecting data for submission to the Scottish Stroke Care Audit. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining both clinical and staff governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff in the delivery of patient care
  • Assume managerial responsibility in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse
  • Oversee the supervision and deployment of staff
  • Assess and evaluate care needs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care
  • Manage newly diagnosed stroke patients, ensuring compliance with national standards
  • Maintain clinical and staff governance
