About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Nurse Specialist to join our Clinical team at Beechwood College. As a Behaviour Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in providing support and direct practice leadership to clinicians, residential and educational staff in order to ensure delivery of high-quality behavioural support across the college setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the pro-active implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support pathway within Beechwood College.
  • Promote the principles of Positive Behaviour Support throughout the College.
  • Support staff in stressful and challenging situations, including identifying learning debriefs in line with the criteria set out in the Promoting Positive Behaviour policy & facilitation of relevant debriefs.
  • Assist with the recruitment and induction of new staff.
  • Participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision.
  • Advise on staff training and competency needs and support staff to be aware of regulations and procedures to be followed.
  • Be responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical practice by using clinical examples and leadership skills.
  • Actively participate with the multidisciplinary team in assessing, formulating, implementing and evaluating individual behaviour support plans.
  • Undertake functional analysis assessments of student behaviour.
  • Be responsible for developing and signing off PBS plans for nominated students.
  • Support the implementation, monitoring and review of PBS plans.
  • Facilitate core team meetings and case workshops around certain students.
  • Positively model PBS approaches throughout the college.
  • Actively contribute to the MDT process, ensuring it is service user-centered and underpinned by effective risk management. Where appropriate, chair multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Produce clinical reports as necessary.
  • Liaise with relatives, external professionals and other key stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Ensure documentation & clinical records are maintained in line with professional codes of conduct and company policy, ensuring information is recorded timely, is accurate and complete.
  • Be aware of & work in line with company policies & procedures.
  • Observe the code of professional conduct as outlined by the Nursing & Midwifery Council; and ensure timely revalidation to maintain professional registration.
  • Be aware of the requirements of CIW and inspection protocols and report any breaches of regulatory requirements to the Registered Manager/Clinical lead.
  • Observe, adhere to, and advise where necessary on the statutory requirements of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act (1983) and Mental Capacity Act (2005), including facilitating capacity assessments where required.
