Salary: £42,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, overtime is available at 1.5 times your hourly rate.

Houston & Hawkes is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sous Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional food experiences. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of our menu offerings, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation.

This role is ideal for a motivated and ambitious individual who is looking to advance their career in the culinary industry. As a Senior Sous Chef, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Head Chef to develop and implement new menu ideas, train and mentor junior staff members, and contribute to the overall success of our kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the kitchen team, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a passion for food and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of kitchen operations
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas, working closely with the Head Chef to ensure that they meet our high standards of quality and presentation
  • Train and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to the overall success of our kitchen operations, working collaboratively with other members of the team to achieve our goals
  • Ensure that all food safety and health and safety protocols are followed, maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring that we have the necessary ingredients and equipment to deliver our menu offerings
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve kitchen efficiency and productivity, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior culinary role, with a strong track record of leadership and team management
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a passion for food and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of kitchen operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to challenges
  • Knowledge of food safety and health and safety protocols, with the ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to the overall success of our kitchen operations
