Procurement Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our Procurement and Commercial Team, you will be responsible for leading procurement strategies and activities for our Electronic Warfare (EW) Line of Business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead procurement aspects of cost model creation and ensure validity and robustness of procurement aspects.
  • Support specific contractual requirements and ensure procurement offering meets customer governance expectations.
  • Liaise with internal Operations Supply Chain team to ensure procurement strategy dovetails with supply chain requirements.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of procurement strategies for the Typhoon EW programmes.
  • Oversee strategic supplier competitions and establish multiple-source options where risk requires.
  • Develop effective relationships with suppliers, partners, and subcontractors to influence successful outcomes.
  • Translate customer/project requirements into procurement documents where required contractually or to support Life Cycle Management (LCM) governance.
  • Ensure commercial protections are in place, including partnering agreements, supply agreements, software licence agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Drive and lead strategies to influence business decisions throughout the project life cycle.
  • Identify solutions for complex areas of potential risk/opportunity, including subcontract risk, IPR, liability, and exchange rate exposure.
  • Manage compliance and governance restrictions for all procured items and services.
Requirements:
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent, or significant relevant work experience (MCIPS preferred).
  • Good understanding of commercial and legal aspects associated with contracting within the Defence/Aerospace industry or a similar market sector.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders based in the UK and overseas, with travel and overnight stays required at times.
