Job Title: Adult Psychiatry Consultant

We are seeking an experienced part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Woking. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide senior medical cover on Acorn Ward, our 10-bed female mental health PICU service.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care
  • Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring
  • Assess referrals, conduct mental state examinations, and undertake appropriate investigations and treatment
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical audits, and risk assessments to ensure safe and effective care
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers' hearings, and attend hearings as required
Requirements:
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • A first-rate communicator with excellent interviewing, assessing, and treating skills, and the ability to write clear and comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
