Job Summary

The Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our team in Acute/Emergency Psychiatry. This is a fixed-term locum position, working across two innovative services: the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) and the Health-Based Place of Safety Service (HBPOS).

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team during working hours.
  • Lead on mental health act assessments and work flexibly across the two services to support patient needs.
  • Contribute to the assessments of general adults and older adults, and liaise with CAMHS psychiatrists as required.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams to ensure continuity of care for patients.
  • Provide informal support to junior medical colleagues and assist in ensuring an appropriate program of activity for medical students.
  • Be Section 12(2) approved and assess patients under the Mental Health Act as required.
  • Inform the clinical lead of any concerns regarding clinical care and contribute to audit and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent higher qualification in psychiatry.
  • Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status, or eligibility.
  • Registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists CPD programme and in good standing.
  • Shared Services training up to date to be an approved trainer/clinical supervisor.
  • Specialist accreditation in General Adult Psychiatry and/or Old Age Psychiatry.
