Senior Research Engineer

The Manufacturing Technology Centre is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer to join their Modelling and Simulation team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading simulation and modelling studies on real engineering problems to help clients achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Modelling and Simulation team to develop and implement simulation and modelling techniques for materials, products, and manufacturing processes.
  • Apply extensive knowledge and experience of managing simulation studies to support clients in achieving manufacturing excellence.
  • Lead projects across various sectors and product lifecycles, including requirements capture, project scoping, and project documentation.
  • Manage client relationships and expectations for these projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and lead multi-disciplinary research projects, integrating simulation and modelling techniques with other manufacturing technologies to generate value at a company level.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of industrial experience leading simulation, modelling, and analytical studies, including physics-based modelling, data-driven modelling, and focused solution/application development.
  • Collaborative R&D bid development, including ideas creation, funding route identification, consortium building, and bid writing.
  • Providing Modelling and Simulation technical training and supporting the development of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Able and willing to work on projects requiring clearance and experience in manufacturing, object-oriented programming, statistical thinking, and materials modelling.
