Job Overview
  • The Sustainability Consultant will serve as the primary environmental resource for our client's operations, offering guidance and support regarding environmental regulations and the assessment & management of ecological risks.
  • As an integral member of the HSSE team, you will contribute to achieving business goals by ensuring the highest standards of environmental stewardship are upheld.
  • Occasional short-term offshore assignments may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Environmental Team Lead, this position will:

• Provide ongoing environmental support and counsel to UK Operations

• Oversee and uphold environmental regulatory compliance protocols and permits

• Monitor, document, and report on environmental performance metrics

• Stay informed about current and emerging environmental legislation

• Represent the Company at industry and corporate environmental discussions

• Assist in incident investigations as needed, including reviewing Incident Reports

• Participate in ORAs/HAZOPs/ENVIDs as required

• Facilitate the establishment of environmental objectives and targets, implementing these through an audit schedule

• Deliver in-house environmental training sessions

Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Responsibilities
All personnel working for or on behalf of our client have the following responsibilities regarding their work:
  • Familiarize themselves with company Policies, including HSE, Risk Management, and Major Hazards policies
  • Understand the Management System and its implications for daily operations
  • Be aware of all associated risks for People, the Environment, Assets, and Reputation (PEAR)
  • Report any incidents, near misses, hazards (unsafe acts/situations), and suggestions for improvement
  • Understand their roles and responsibilities
  • Actively engage in any job or HSEQ training or instruction provided by or on behalf of our client
  • Utilize all provided resources as intended and according to their purpose

Required Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
  • Proven experience with environmental issues in the oil and gas sector

• Familiarity with the PETS system

• Offshore survival certification (or willingness to obtain this)

• Degree in a relevant scientific field (other backgrounds considered if supported by relevant experience)

Preferred:

• Experience with atmospheric compliance; ETS & PPC

• Familiarity with EEMS

• Strong knowledge and experience in UK environmental legislation (both onshore and offshore) and industry best practices

• Previous experience as an Environmental Consultant for an offshore operator is advantageous

• Knowledge of drilling environmental management

• Experience with environmental management systems

• Auditing experience
