Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified professional in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist specializing in psychosis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to clients with long-term rehabilitation needs.

Applicants should possess experience in multidisciplinary teams and have a proven track record in providing CBT and CBTp to clients.

This role includes the supervision of Assistant Psychologists and may extend to trainee Clinical Psychologists. An interest in engaging with audit processes and psychosis research is advantageous.

You will be integral to a dynamic therapy program, collaborating closely with Occupational Therapy and Arts Psychotherapy colleagues. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and enhancing psychological services across our units.

Regular supervision and support will be provided by a qualified clinical psychologist.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver CBT and CBTp to service users with long-term rehabilitation needs.
  • Collaborate with the rehabilitation services team to ensure effective delivery of NICE Concordant treatment.
  • Supervise Trainee Psychologists and/or Assistant Psychologists.
  • Conduct specialized psychosocial assessments and provide support to service users.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality service based on evidence-based practices and NICE guidelines.
  • Engage in research, audits, and team training initiatives.
  • Provide effective care within a multidisciplinary team for individuals experiencing initial psychological difficulties.
  • Deliver role-specific training to MDT members.
  • Act as a professional role model, maintaining high standards of conduct.
  • Ensure clinical and management supervision for staff aligns with trust policies and professional guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent, registered with the HCPC, and eligible for BABCP Accreditation; or BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist with additional CBTp training.
  • Experience working with clients experiencing psychosis within the NHS.
  • Proven experience in delivering CBTp to NHS clients.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment, including working with interpreters.

Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of NICE guidelines for Schizophrenia and Psychosis.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation concerning mental health issues and equalities.
  • Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of CBT applied to clinical practice, particularly for adults and young people with severe mental health disorders.
