About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Stores Assistant to join our team at Great Western Railway. As a key member of our Stores team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and storage activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Group Stores Manager in the supply of stock and non-stock materials to our production team.
  • Manage materials ordering, including train spares, cleaning equipment, PPE, and local purchases.
  • Book materials to the correct cost centre on the SAP - IFMS system.
  • Conduct stock checks, unloading, and receipting of materials, and place them in the correct location.
  • Operate forklift trucks and other company vehicles, and perform various other duties as required.
  • Ensure compliance with 6s-Lean Principles, COSHH, and GWR H&S procedures.

Requirements
  • You will have previous experience in Stores and Railway Engineering Logistics.
  • You will be educated to a good standard.
  • You will hold a full current driving license.
  • You will have a good understanding of GWR, purchasing, and materials management.
  • You will have good general IT skills, including SAP E-Procurement and IFMS, and Microsoft Office applications.
About the Location

This role will be based at St Philips Marsh Depot.

Working Pattern

The shift pattern will be as follows:

  • 10-hour shifts.
  • Working as follows: 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off.
  • Earlies: 06:00hrs - 16:00hrs.
  • Lates: 10:00hrs - 20:00hrs.
  • Nights: 20:00hrs - 06:00hrs.
