About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Stores Assistant to join our team at Great Western Railway. As a key member of our Stores team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and storage facilities, including the receipt, storage, and issue of materials and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Group Stores Manager in the supply of stock and non-stock materials to our production team, ensuring maximum fleet availability for our customers.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, and issue of materials and supplies, including the use of SAP-IFMS system.
  • Perform stock checks, unloading, and receipting of materials, and place them in the correct location.
  • Operate forklift trucks and other company vehicles, and undertake various other duties as required within this busy department.
  • Ensure compliance with 6s-Lean Principles, COSHH, and GWR H&S procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in stores and railway engineering logistics.
  • Good understanding of GWR, purchasing, and materials management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including late and night shifts.
  • Able to undertake and pass forklift training.
About the Location

This role will be based at St Philips Marsh Depot, where you will work as part of a close-knit team to ensure the smooth operation of our warehouse and storage facilities.
