The Role: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

As the inaugural SDET on our dynamic team, you will work alongside software, data, and bioinformatics professionals to establish critical testing requirements. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the quality and performance of our software products by designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts. Collaborating with the team, you will identify and rectify software issues or bugs, while also playing a key role in the continuous improvement of our testing methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts for both front-end and back-end applications.
  • Work closely with software developers and quality assurance engineers to identify and resolve software issues.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, cases, and scripts.
  • Engage in code reviews, analyze test outcomes, and provide constructive feedback to the development team.
  • Investigate and replicate reported defects, communicating findings effectively to the team.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of our testing processes and methodologies.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging testing technologies.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Software Developer in Test or a similar position.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python.
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium.
  • Familiarity with tools like Github, Jira, and X-ray.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and strong communication skills.
  • Proactive approach, multitasking capability, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
