Environmental Enforcement Officer Role Overview

As an Environmental Enforcement Officer with APCOA, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our local communities. Your primary responsibility will be to enforce environmental laws and regulations, ensuring that residents and visitors adhere to local bye-laws and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce environmental laws, making inquiries and taking action where necessary.
  • Examine reports of littering, fly tipping, and dog fouling, and other similar offenses.
  • Issue Fixed Penalty Notices for offenses where appropriate.
  • Prepare and submit relevant cases for trial, assisting legal services in presenting cases to court and attending as a witness when needed.
  • Record witness statements and conduct interviews under caution when required.
  • Validate and verify personal details of offenders.
  • Build good working relationships with key stakeholders, including the Police.

Requirements:

  • Experience in enforcement work (including security work) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of green services, such as cleansing and waste collection, is desired.
  • Ability to adapt and engage with different audiences and work as part of a team.
  • Capacity to deal with complaints and resolve complex issues.
  • Enthusiasm and a positive 'can-do' attitude to work.
  • A full clean driving license is required.
