In this role, you will lead both team members and contractors, leveraging your technical expertise in your designated plant area.

Based at Drax Power Station, this position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend work required during peak project phases. We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility in managing your time.


Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing daily team leadership and managing a specific plant area, which encompasses engineering support during outages, refurbishment, and maintenance activities.

You will be accountable for ensuring long-term plant integrity, maintaining the Fuel Processing and Auxiliary Plant systems, controlling costs, and implementing an effective engineering and maintenance strategy.

Your role will be pivotal in directing both projects and maintenance activities that align with the long-term operational and commercial objectives of this diverse plant area.

Contract management duties will involve developing detailed technical specifications, conducting risk assessments, and supervising contractor activities, including the establishment of work when acting as Contract Owner/User.

Utilizing the work management system, you will oversee the preparation and execution of preventative, breakdown, and outage maintenance schedules and work packages.

Additionally, you will ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies and procedures related to Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, and Quality standards.


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess (or be willing to pursue) a minimum of an HND in an Engineering-related field, with a preference for those holding a Bachelor's degree and membership in a Professional Engineering Institution.

Experience in delivering significant engineering projects in operational environments such as milling plants, pneumatic conveying systems, pumps, gas and steam systems, turbomachinery, fuel oil systems, cranes, and fire safety systems is essential.

You should demonstrate the capability to lead and support projects throughout their lifecycle, including justification, scoping, design, implementation, and commissioning, and have experience managing budgets.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage contractor performance effectively are crucial for achieving desired outcomes.

Above all, you should be adaptable to change, possess a positive attitude, and be open to exploring innovative approaches to work.
