In this role, you will lead both team members and contractors, leveraging your technical expertise in your designated plant area.

Located at Drax Power Station, this position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend work required during peak project phases. We value work-life balance and offer flexibility for time off when needed.


Role Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include daily leadership of personnel and oversight of a specific plant area, encompassing engineering support during outages, refurbishment, and maintenance activities.

You will ensure the long-term integrity of the plant, focusing on the preservation of Fuel Processing and Auxiliary Plant systems while minimizing costs and delivering a robust engineering and maintenance strategy.

As a key player, you will lead both projects and maintenance efforts that align with the long-term operational and commercial objectives of this diverse plant area.

Your contract management duties will involve creating detailed technical specifications, conducting risk assessments, and supervising contractor activities, including setting work standards as the Contract Owner/User.

Utilizing the work management system, you will oversee the preparation and execution of preventative maintenance, breakdown responses, and outage schedules.

Compliance with legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies regarding Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, and Quality will be a critical aspect of your role.


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess (or be working towards) a minimum of an HND in an Engineering-related field, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree and membership in a Professional Engineering Institution.

Experience in delivering significant Engineering projects in operational settings such as milling plants, pneumatic conveying systems, pumps, gas and steam systems, turbomachinery, fuel oil systems, cranes, and fire systems is essential.

You should demonstrate the capability to lead and support projects throughout their lifecycle, including justification, scoping, design, implementation, and commissioning, along with experience in budget management.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage contractor performance effectively to achieve desired outcomes are crucial.

Above all, a positive attitude and adaptability to change, along with a willingness to explore and implement innovative working methods, are key attributes for success in this role.
