Position: Senior Gastroenterology Consultant - permanent or fixed-term contract available. Visa sponsorship is an option.

Compensation: Fixed-term - £105,401 annually / Substantive - £91,722 to £119,079 based on experience.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday with on-call responsibilities. Multiple roles are open:

  • Senior Gastroenterology Consultant with a focus on intestinal failure / luminal Gastroenterology.
  • Senior Gastroenterology Consultant / Hepatologist specializing in neuroendocrine tumours.
  • Senior Gastroenterology Consultant with expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Location: South Wales

Qualifications and Certifications Required:

Essential:

  • Must be a GMC registered physician or have GMC registration in progress (Specialist Register not required).
  • Relevant experience at the Consultant level or references supporting your transition to Consultant level.
  • Successful completion of an enhanced background check (DBS) is necessary.

As a Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology, your expertise and experience are vital for delivering Endoscopy services across the hospital, particularly in diagnostic, therapeutic, and screening endoscopy.

In this flexible role, you will collaborate closely with fellow healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care are maintained for individuals of all ages, while also providing clinical and educational support to junior Gastroenterologists.

Main Responsibilities:

As a Gastroenterology Consultant, your duties will include:

  • Diagnosing, screening, treating, and managing preoperative, operative, and postoperative patient care.
  • Providing support to patients and their families, effectively communicating clinical information to clarify diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Coordinating treatment plans and prescribing various treatment modalities.
  • Monitoring and caring for patients consistently.
  • Engaging with patients and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate shared decision-making.
  • Leading and participating in a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Assessing and prioritizing patient needs, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Recognizing, reviewing, and reporting on patient conditions and any changes to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Performing essential administrative tasks, including maintaining records of test results, writing prescriptions, and monitoring treatment plans.
  • Conducting research to develop and evaluate surgical techniques and equipment aimed at improving procedures and outcomes.
  • Teaching and training junior doctors, medical students, and other team members.
