Payroll Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Assistant to join our Finance team at Progeny. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Accurately calculate and process payments, amendments, adjustments, deductions, holiday pay, and statutory payments for both UK and international employees, adhering to regulations.
  • Payroll Administration: Responsible for day-to-day administration, including processing new starters, leavers, payrolling benefits, P11Ds, Statutory leave and pay, including SSP, SMP, and SPP.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Compile standard reports and ad-hoc reports for management as needed, providing insights into payroll data, including Gender Pay Gap reporting.
  • Pension Administration: Assist in pension administration, ensuring compliance with pension scheme regulations is met and regularly communicating with pension providers to resolve issues/discrepancies.
  • Year-End Routines: Support the payroll manager in the execution of year-end routines, including the distribution of P60s and P11Ds to employees.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Keep up to date with UK and international payroll regulations, implementing changes as required.
Requirements:
  • Approved Certification: Approved certification or working towards such an award would be desirable for this role (such as CIPP) but not essential.
  • Payroll Experience: Considerable experience in a payroll role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation. Must have experience in end-to-end payroll.
  • Payroll Knowledge: A detailed understanding of payroll regulations, tax, and PAYE.
  • Pension Administration: Experience with pension administration and auto-enrolment processes.
  • Multi-Country Payroll: Experience in multi-country payroll processing (desirable).
  • Analysis and Reporting: Ability to analyse payroll data for gender pay gap reporting and financial reporting.
