Position Overview

Avance Consulting is seeking a dedicated Project Control Specialist to join our team, focusing on a significant HVDC initiative across Europe and the UK. This role is pivotal in supporting the Lead Project Controls in executing the project according to the defined strategy while ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HVDC Project Controls team to address global project requirements.
  • Oversee the planning and financial aspects of the HVDC scope as part of the comprehensive project framework.

Scheduling Duties

  • Formulate tender schedules utilizing established methodologies, ensuring that schedule risks are effectively managed while maintaining competitive offerings aligned with historical data.
  • Develop and sustain a unified project schedule that encapsulates contributions from all relevant functions, units, and external parties.
  • Establish clear linkages within the schedule to illustrate interdependencies among all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that functional leaders endorse commitments and are held accountable for their timelines.
  • Work in tandem with the overall project planning team to guarantee optimal synchronization of schedules.
  • Deliver a high-caliber schedule that meets global standards, accurately reflecting the project's status.
  • Maintain the schedule throughout the project lifecycle, gathering insights from all contributors.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with the project team to assess schedule progress and operational rhythm.
  • Challenge functional leaders on projected completion dates to ensure they are realistic and achievable.
  • Conduct schedule analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities using available tools and expertise.
  • Provide look-ahead reports, backlog assessments, and future late notifications with prioritization to effectively communicate risks and drive project focus.
  • Generate "what if" scenarios to enhance execution strategies and collaborate with project teams to assess feasibility.
  • Propose strategies for risk mitigation and follow up with functional leaders on action items.
  • Deliver and communicate regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual customer reporting requirements and maintain direct communication with clients regarding scheduling issues.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in guiding project teams to maintain control over project execution.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to leverage data for forecasting outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficient in Primavera and other project management tools.
  • Solid understanding of cost management principles.
