About the Role

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our Independence Hub team at HSDC. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide high-quality academic support to learners with severe and complex additional learning needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and stay as independent as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Provide in-class or small group support to learners with additional learning needs
  • Plan, implement, and measure the impact of support work to evaluate its effectiveness
  • Assist with learner assessment and gather support data
  • Provide reading, amanuensis, and practical assistance for exams
Requirements
  • Maths and English to at least level 2
  • Experience of education to at least level 3
  • Learning Support or similar qualification
  • Understanding of factors that create barriers to learning and strategies to overcome them
  • Knowledge and/or experience of severe and complex disabilities and learning difficulties and strategies to support them
