We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Transport Operations Manager to become a vital part of our esteemed customer operations.

The working schedule is from Tuesday to Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all facets of safety, service quality, cost efficiency, and personnel management while achieving the designated KPIs;
  • Inspire and motivate the team to meet established targets and deadlines through effective guidance and support;
  • Ensure the operation meets daily and weekly KPIs by utilizing available planning and scheduling resources;
  • Maintain compliance with the legal requirements of the site’s operator license;
  • Adhere to the Road Traffic Act regulations;
  • Ensure the site meets health and safety standards;
  • Assist in the recruitment and training processes for the Operations Team;
  • Build customer trust by demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the operation;
  • Drive the ongoing development of the Operations Team through performance evaluations and growth plans;
  • Promote a proactive approach to Health & Safety, ensuring all staff comply with and exceed current standards;
  • Foster a positive site culture in Doncaster;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and procedures;
  • Collaborate closely with other departments and third parties to gain a thorough understanding of operations and systems;
  • Conduct investigations and manage disciplinary and grievance procedures as necessary;
  • Monitor and manage absence levels within the Operations team;
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required for effective site operations;
  • Maintain a plan to monitor vehicle damage and ensure adherence to the daily/weekly hygiene program;
  • Manage daily checks through the Microlise system in accordance with legal and company standards;
  • Ensure all exceptions are monitored via the CRM system for transparency;
  • Report directly to the CDC Manager;
  • Organize driver and vehicle schedules to meet planned targets and deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an operational environment, particularly in transport and warehousing;
  • Familiarity with computerized scheduling and driver management systems (FTA) is advantageous;
  • Understanding of transport driver performance metrics;
  • Experience in a unionized setting is a plus;
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising or managing a team;
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, as the operation runs from Tuesday to Saturday;
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel;
  • Competence in using the Microlise System;
  • Strong communication skills coupled with effective problem-solving abilities;
  • Proven leadership capabilities;
  • A track record of personal growth and development within a role.
