Part-Time Payroll Assistant

Location: Hybrid (Occasional travel to Head Office in Orpington required)
Working Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: £23,000 - £26,000 per year (pro rata, based on experience)

Role Overview:

A dynamic organization is seeking a skilled Payroll Assistant to contribute to their team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, providing support across all payroll functions, and maintaining high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing payroll from start to finish, including managing new starters and leavers.
  • Act as the primary contact during the Payroll Manager's absence, ensuring tasks are completed accurately.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment and tax legislation, providing accurate advice and suggesting process improvements.
  • Administer and maintain records for salary sacrifice schemes such as pensions, cars, and childcare vouchers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to pension providers and handle related queries.
  • Offer payroll-related advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Oversee the submission of statutory returns to HMRC, including RTI, P11Ds, and Gender Pay Gap reporting.
  • Manage absence records and process deductions for sickness.
  • Handle payroll queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with internal and external requirements.
  • Provide reports and data as requested by management and auditors.
  • Support additional payroll-related tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Level 3 payroll qualification or at least 2 years of payroll experience.
  • Strong administrative and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of Employment Law.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Experience with HR databases.
  • Familiarity with SAGE payroll systems.
