Salary Range: £11.79 per hour.

Work Location: Your primary location is Drayton Depot, however, you will be assigned to a specific site location. Daily visits to the base location are not required.

Employment Type: Permanent, Term Time Only.

Understanding Term Time Only Employment: This type of contract is designed for staff who work exclusively during school operational periods. Your remuneration is calculated annually and distributed in twelve equal monthly payments.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Child Safety Officer to deliver a crucial and dependable service to children and other pedestrians at a designated crossing point, ensuring their safe passage across the road during school commutes.

You will be required to maintain a stationary position for extended durations, utilizing the 'lollipop' pole in various weather conditions to facilitate the safe crossing of children and adults. This role involves stopping vehicular traffic.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in understanding and executing procedures for safely halting traffic.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and other adults as necessary.
  • Good awareness and understanding of vehicle stopping distances, particularly under adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with pressure from drivers or pedestrians.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to follow detailed written instructions and record necessary information during duties.
  • Familiarity with relevant sections of the Highway Code and its applications.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • No specific qualifications are necessary.
  • Experience working with children is desirable.
  • Experience in providing service to others is also desirable.
