The Compliance Officer will collaborate with various departments to address compliance challenges, offer recommendations, and communicate the status of action resolutions while monitoring corrective measures.

The ideal candidate should be a polished, process-oriented individual with a keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude, prioritizing communication, Health and Safety, Security, and Quality in their responsibilities.

This role entails taking direct responsibility for health and safety as well as all compliance-related matters.

You will be required to work on a flexible shift schedule, covering any days from Monday to Sunday, from 06:00 to 23:00, totaling 40 hours per week on a permanent, full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure comprehensive knowledge and strict adherence to all Health and Safety and Security regulations at all times.
  • Conduct daily product quality inspections to meet customer expectations.
  • Enforce Personal Protective Equipment policies and procedures for all personnel on site.
  • Provide on-the-job training related to Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment as needed.
  • Continuously coach relevant employees on best practices in Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment.
  • Participate in the site risk assessment program.
  • Organize site visits and report any building-related issues.
  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure compliance with all legal and best practice standards relevant to the role.
  • Document positive interventions and analyze trends and dashboards.
  • Conduct Active Monitoring site inspections and report any findings as necessary.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of all areas and consistently monitor compliance with best practices.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment.
  • Act as the deputy radiation supervisor for the site.
  • Ensure accurate production of Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment documentation and maintain records.
  • Inspire the team to exceed Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment targets and engage them in the continuous improvement process.
  • Plan audits, execute them, and prepare audit reports. Assist with internal and external audit programs on site.
  • Communicate and support OCS trainers to develop training programs based on identified concerns. Evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Conduct and assist with accident investigations as necessary.
  • Report all near misses and encourage production, engineering, and logistics teams to do the same.
  • Schedule training, maintain training files, and matrices.
  • Collaborate closely with teams to resolve compliance issues, provide recommendations, communicate the status of action resolutions, and track corrective actions that require management attention.
  • Supervise a small team of cleaners (3 personnel).
Health & Safety / Compliance Objectives:

  • Engage regularly with staff through formal and informal channels regarding safety matters to ensure open communication and maintain high morale.
  • Reflect the OCS safety image positively through your actions and those of your team.
  • Ensure that a safe system of work is communicated to employees before starting any work activity. Confirm that all RAMS and COSHH assessments are current.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining plant, equipment, and workplace environments to ensure they are fit for purpose, actively promoting fault reporting within the zone area.
  • Conduct regular site and service inspections, auditing all working equipment and identifying areas of non-compliance with Health & Safety and Quality Standards, taking necessary actions daily.
  • Manage the safety performance of all personnel and subcontractors, taking appropriate action for any breaches.
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure compliance with quality standards, processes, and procedures, while supporting the implementation of safety initiatives within operational areas.

Requirements:

  • Strong educational background with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • IOSH certification is desirable.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in a health and safety service environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing and directing teams, with the ability to perform against specific targets and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and capable of motivating others.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on delivering quality service.
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to operate efficiently.
  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment while ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, with a good sense of humor and patience being essential. Proactive planning and problem-solving abilities are required.
