Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Babcock Mission Critical Services España SA. as a Design Engineer - Mechanical Handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional technical assistance and advice to support ongoing operational availability and maintenance.
  • Support the Facility Design Authorities with the development of new designs and facility modifications.
  • Maintain the content and configuration of the reference design documentation of extant assets through-life.
  • Manage the design development through the whole design lifecycle (requirements development, drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports) for both new and modified equipment.
  • Specify replacement equipment/components and support the production of configuration documentation for permanent modifications.
  • Support the implementation of new designs (Factory Acceptance Testing, supporting commissioning activities).
  • Support asset conditions surveys and produce condition reports / fault-finding on existing assets.
  • Periodically review maintenance regimes and activities.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in the design process and the design/substantiation of engineering systems.
  • Experience of operating within nuclear or other high-hazard environments.
  • Experience of producing a range of engineering documentation.
  • Experience of cranes/lifting equipment and crane operations or knowledge and experience of other electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems.
Qualifications
  • Qualified to HND level in a mechanical engineering discipline.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
