Position: Senior Safety Assurance Engineer

Location: Flexible working arrangements available – please consult with your recruiter regarding options for this role.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on skills and experience, ranging from £53,589 to £65,473.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the safety of Aircraft/System/Sub-System and Support Products/Goods throughout their lifecycle, including conducting preliminary hazard assessments and generating system safety assessment reports.
  • Creating, updating, and reviewing safety assessment reports, including Fault Tree Analysis and Event Tree Analysis, to support certification requirements.
  • Producing and maintaining Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports to facilitate the certification process and provide necessary inputs to partner organizations.
  • Reviewing certification evidence for Platform/Support Products and formulating safety certification arguments to demonstrate the acceptability of the design.
  • Ensuring that safety engineering documentation supports the certification of product designs, while preparing materials for internal and external reviews as required.
  • Conducting risk assessments for emergent issues related to Weapon Platforms and supporting the design areas in maintaining airworthiness.
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers to establish delivery timelines.
  • Delegating tasks to qualified team members and overseeing their professional development.
  • Engaging with senior management to ensure the availability of skilled personnel within the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in Safety Engineering with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high degree of self-motivation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Systems or Mechanical Engineering, and Safety Engineering in a military airborne platform context.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as the UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, and EN61508.
  • Experience with safety analysis tools like Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation.
  • Ability to engage with senior technical leaders and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Capability to lead discussions on technical aspects and the acceptability of product safety throughout the lifecycle.
