Position Overview

Job Title: Senior Safety Assurance Engineer

Company: Innovate

Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the safety of aircraft, systems, and subsystems while ensuring product safety throughout their operational lifecycle, including initial hazard evaluations and comprehensive safety assessments.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), Hazard Analysis reports, Fault Tree Analysis, and Event Tree Analysis to fulfill certification standards.
  • Produce and assess Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports for certification or partner contributions.
  • Maintain and refresh hazard logs for platforms and associated products, generating safety evaluations and design justifications.
  • Examine certification documentation for platform and support products, formulating safety arguments to facilitate certification processes.
  • Ensure that safety engineering documentation substantiates acceptable product design safety certification, preparing materials for review sessions.
  • Conduct risk evaluations for emerging issues and assist in safety assessments for continued airworthiness of the Typhoon Platform System/Sub-System areas.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to establish delivery timelines.
  • Delegate tasks to qualified team members and oversee personnel responsibilities, including performance management and career progression.
  • Work alongside executive and product integrity teams to guarantee the availability of qualified personnel.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • HND/HNC/Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in safety engineering with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong self-motivation coupled with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Familiarity with aerospace/aeronautical engineering, systems or mechanical engineering, and safety engineering in military airborne platform design.
  • Understanding of safety regulations (e.g., UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761).
  • Experience with safety analysis tools (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis+, Reliability Workbench, Goal Structured Notation (GSN)).
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders as well as external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
