Welcome to Taylor Whitmore Limited.

We have the pleasure of working with a small to medium sized freight forwarder who is based in the UK looking for an experienced Senior Import Operator.

Firstly, our client is extremely well established as a worldwide Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance agent covering sea, air, rail and road. Their staff turnover is minimal and they operate a traditional, friendly and supportive working environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reference jobs within forwarding system (ie. Multifreight)
  • Ensure that jobs are kept up to date with latest vessel and arrival information
  • Check that original Bill of Lading or telex release is present
  • Arrange Customs clearance in line with customer requirements
  • Arrange FCL & LCL deliveries as per customer requirements and booking direct with customer warehouse
  • •Selecting haulier based on price/service and booking haulage with chosen haulier
  • Advise charges to consignee prior to delivery date, selected customers only
  • Obtain releases for LCL/FCL shipments as required
  • Check off quay dates/times each day
  • Use Port Community Systems (Destin8 / CNS)
  • Any other task which is reasonable within an office environment

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a reputable freight forwarding company as a Senior Import Operator. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of import operations, from referencing jobs to arranging Customs clearance and deliveries.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of freight forwarding and Customs clearance procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
