Position Overview

The successful candidate will integrate into a dynamic team within the Ear, Nose and Throat - Head & Neck directorate, which includes 8 Consultant Surgeons, 1 Associate Specialist, 12 Specialty Doctors, 6 Junior Clinical Fellows, and 2 GPVTS Trainees. Our services are provided across multiple Royal Free London sites.

Key Responsibilities

This role is appointed by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and involves collaborative work across various sites, with ample opportunities for professional development and training.

The indicative job plan, which will be finalized, is expected to encompass clinic duties, surgical procedures, on-call responsibilities, and administrative tasks, totaling 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Adjustments to the job plan may occur as service demands evolve, with potential for long day and weekend shifts in the future.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of higher specialist training in ENT or nearing the end of training with expected CCT within 6 months.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or an equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven expertise in managing complex ENT cases independently.
  • Experience in busy outpatient and emergency settings.
  • Background in both adult and pediatric ENT care.
  • Training in clinical supervision as defined by the GMC.
  • Experience in conducting and participating in audits.
  • Research experience in a designated subspecialty.

Desirable Attributes

  • Training in educational supervision as defined by the GMC.
  • Post-CCT Fellowship in Otology.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional clinical and surgical skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities to lead a multidisciplinary team in a complex environment.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and security protocols.
  • Excellent teaching and presentation skills.
