About the Role
The East of England Ambulance Service is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our team at our Barton Mills workshop. As a Vehicle Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our ambulances are on the road and ready to respond to patients in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard and within a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing on vehicles, including MOT inspections and repairs.
- Work collaboratively with other mechanics and technicians to ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.
- Participate in a rota for 24-hour service and repair callouts, including working outside in varying weather conditions.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs, including welding and other specialized tasks.
- Responsible for the safe working practices undertaken when dealing with motor vehicle air-conditioning systems.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment to assist in the diagnosing of vehicle faults and fault-finding process.
- Provide guidance and support to team members and new employees as required.
Requirements
- C1 License category (or able to achieve)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering
- NVQ 2 in Vehicle Maintenance Repair (Light Vehicle) #4270 and/or experience gained in a similar working environment (ie City and Guilds 4290)
Working for East of England Ambulance Service
The Fleet Department is responsible for the design, testing, and evaluation of operational vehicles, their procurement and issue to A&E Operations, the in-life compliance, service planning, and up-time management (operational life) of the vehicle, and the final decommissioning and disposal at the end of their life. It is also responsible for all ordering of lease vehicles to support functions, including business lease cars.
