The Nuclear Medicine division at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two facilities, providing comprehensive services to a diverse patient population. Our team is equipped with advanced imaging technology, including multiple gamma cameras and a state-of-the-art SPECT CT system. We also run a specialized radiopharmacy that produces essential radiopharmaceuticals for both internal and external clients. Our therapy services encompass radionuclide treatments, catering to a significant number of patients. Additionally, we actively support various clinical research initiatives.

A vacancy has emerged for a dedicated Band 8A Clinical Scientist to join our collaborative team. The ideal candidate will engage in all facets of the Nuclear Medicine service, including quality assurance, radiopharmacy (with training provided), research and development, and external contract engagements. A Master's degree from an accredited institution and HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist are prerequisites for this role. Candidates should possess relevant experience in Nuclear Medicine Physics. Those who are in the process of obtaining MPE status are encouraged to apply. Applicants lacking the requisite experience may be considered for a Band 7 position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and execute a quality assurance program for all Nuclear Medicine equipment.
  • Lead efforts to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Oversee the administration of radionuclide therapies.
  • Supervise and mentor trainee clinical scientists, nurses, radiographers, and technicians.
  • Assist in the management and upkeep of documentation within the department's quality management system.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • HCPC State Registration as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Specialized knowledge in Nuclear Medicine, with a minimum of two years of post-registration experience.
  • Familiarity with UK legislation governing the use of radioactive materials in a healthcare setting.
