Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager

A prestigious heritage site in central London seeks a skilled Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager to support the Head of Grounds and Gardens in maintaining the site's exceptional gardens and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in setting and monitoring team member objectives
  • Supervise and monitor timekeeping of Grounds and Gardens staff
  • Maintain horticultural machinery and record maintenance work
  • Undertake risk assessments, health and safety checks, and machinery checks
  • Operate a range of horticultural machinery, including ride-on mowers and tractors
  • Apply and record chemicals, including pesticides and herbicides
  • Perform tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and leaf clearing
  • Liaise with external agencies, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Glasshouse, including propagation and production
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of PPE and sundry horticultural items
Requirements:
  • Solid knowledge of garden machinery and maintenance
  • Experience working in a Heritage Landscape or similar
  • Basic plant knowledge
  • Relevant experience in horticultural and turf culture practices
  • Horticultural/Landscape management qualification Level II or equivalent
  • Safe use of ride-on mower, compact tractor, and chemical spraying certificates
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Good supervisory skills
  • Horticultural passion
Working Conditions:

Full-time and permanent position, working 41 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in central London.
