Position Overview

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or Advanced CBT Therapist, to take on a pivotal role in leading the psychological therapies pathway within our Mental Health Hub. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the integration of psychological services with secondary care mental health teams.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Head of Psychological Therapies in Primary Care, the incumbent will:

  • Provide expert leadership and support to the psychological therapies team and the broader hub staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-caliber specialist psychological therapies service throughout the mental health pathway.
  • Oversee and mentor the psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions conducted by other psychologists and clinical team members.
  • Offer consultation services to GPs and other referrers regarding psychological treatment options and pathways.
  • Facilitate reflective practice sessions and incident debriefs, promoting teamwork and trauma-informed care to enhance service user experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider mental health system and community partners.
  • Utilize research methodologies for auditing, policy formulation, and service enhancement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the overall management and strategic direction of the service.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Doctorate-level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or be a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in community mental health settings.
  • Demonstrated involvement in service user engagement and experience working with clients facing complex mental health challenges.
  • Experience in service evaluation and quality assurance.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills in a clinical environment.
  • Experience in collaborating with GPs and other stakeholders.
