The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a focus on Spinal Surgery to enhance our esteemed Neurosurgery Department.

We are in search of a dedicated professional who can contribute to our dynamic team, ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients. Key attributes include strong leadership, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
To qualify for this role, candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register or nearing completion of their Specialist Registrar training.
Prospective applicants should possess a formal Fellowship in Complex Spine from a recognized institution or equivalent experience in this specialty.
Main Responsibilities
The Neurosurgery Department at our facility is among the busiest in the UK, providing comprehensive clinical services across various neurosurgical subspecialties. Our department handles a significant volume of both complex and routine cases, including vascular, skull base, functional, oncology, and spinal surgeries. We have recently been accredited as a Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence.
This position is designed to strengthen our existing neurosurgical team, which comprises 23 Consultant Neurosurgeons, Specialty Doctors, Registrars, Junior Doctors, and Allied Healthcare Professionals.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the Complex Spinal Surgery services within the region. Our department is expanding, and the new member will be integral to this growth.
Additionally, the Neurosurgery Department has initiated operations at a local surgical hub, and the candidate will be expected to support the development of this service.
We anticipate that the successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Neurosurgery Department, engaging in Service Improvement initiatives as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- FRCS or equivalent qualification
- Completion of CCST or higher specialist training
Desirable:
- Evidence of Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners
- Inclusion on the specialist register or admission within six months of interview
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Clinical expertise in Neurosurgery
- Demonstrated interest in Complex Spinal Surgery
- Completion of a formal Fellowship in Complex Spine or equivalent experience
- Completion of a recognized Spinal Fellowship
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Consultant
