Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at King's College Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing high-risk surgery, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of our department's business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff and contribute to the development of the department's business plan.
  • Take an active role in the formulation and implementation of the department's/Division's Business Plan, including fostering and developing projects focused towards these ends.
  • Be aware of and comply with all Trust infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene.
  • Be accountable for the implementation of the Code of Practice within own department/area of responsibility.
  • Additional qualifications/diplomas in specialist areas, such as Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences or Regional Anaesthesia.
Requirements
  • Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programme in anaesthesia.
  • Eligible to apply for a Substantive Consultant post – CCT or within 6 months of completion.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Wide experience in delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high risk surgery and trauma/cepod surgery.
  • Award of CCT or equivalent.
  • Major trauma management experience.
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics.
  • Pre-assessment and perioperative medicine experience.
  • Additional training/fellowship in a specialist area.
Working Arrangements

The post will be based mainly at the Denmark Hill site but may be required to work flexibly across the KCH sites. The post holder will have significant involvement in the delivery of emergency anaesthesia both during daytime cover and as part of the general consultant on-call rota.
